Jacob wrestling with the angel

Jacob wrestling with the angel

Dreams from the LORD 2003-2006
17 February 2005

Genesis 32: 28: “And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.”

I Timothy 2: 5: “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”

When the Lord changed Jacob’s name to Israel, I always thought of it as a foreshadowing of the born-again experience. But as I look at the two preceding scriptures, we can see that Jacob/Israel foreshadows or symbolizes Jesus. All scripture points towards Jesus. Israel is Jesus. Jacob wrestled with God and became a mediator between God and men. His immediate son, Joseph, helped save the world from famine when Pharaoh raised Joseph up into a position of power. Jacob’s distant son, Jesus, saved the world from sin (if we believe in Him).

I have always revered Abraham because he is the father of faith, but there is more written on Jacob than anybody else in the Book of Genesis. The Twelve Patriarchs came from Jacob (12 means “to rule”), so in Jacob you have a more enduring foundation for Moses, the Prophets and the New Testament. It is true that the Lord changed Abram’s name to Abraham, but when Jacob became Israel, I believe there was a deeper transformation–from death to life–or maybe a deeper meaning (you can’t pass from death to life without the Blood of Jesus). Jacob came from Padan-aram (a strange land, death) to Canaan (the Promised Land, life). Jacob had to change to Israel because now he had to live by faith in God and not faith in himself. Jacob means “deceiver”; Israel means “prince”. The Lord now wants a prince to rule Israel, not a deceiver.

Jacob’s words hold much power even to this day: look at Jacob’s Prophecy regarding his twelve sons in Genesis Chapter 49. Verses 1 and 2: “And Jacob called his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days. Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob and hearken unto Israel your father.” If we abide in Christ, we hearken unto Israel. Jacob’s Prophecy over Judah was definitely Messianic, but Jacob also gave Joseph a powerful blessing that also points towards some future ruler: “But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:).”(Genesis 49: 24).

Before Jacob could pass into Canaan (the Promised Land), he had to confront Esau. Before Jesus could proceed to accomplish his work on the Cross, die and rise from the dead, he had to confront Herod. Herod was half Edomite (Herod was a descendant of Esau). There was enmity between Jacob and Esau and there was enmity between Jesus and Herod. Jacob was a true son of Isaac and Abraham; Esau was a real heathen–he married two daughters of Heth. Jesus was truly Jewish–he fulfilled the Law and the Prophets; Herod was not truly Jewish because he was half Edomite. Jesus was a son of Jacob; Herod was a son of Esau. You can’t mix heaven with hell or heaven with the world: the love of the world is enmity with the Father. Jacob/Israel ultimately overcame and defeated Esau (the world) when Jesus died and rose from the dead. Esau is a term of derision; Israel is a term of endearment. During King David’s reign (1000 B.C.) there was a nation called Israel; in the year 2005 A.D. there is a nation called Israel.

Jacob came, Jacob saw, Jacob wrestled, Jacob conquered. Jesus the same yesterday, today and forever. Jacob still endures and Genesis Chapter 49 is just as alive today as it was when it was first uttered from Jacob’s mouth: “Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob and hearken unto Israel your father.”

Dreams from the LORD 2003-2006
10 February 2005

Last night I had a dream where I was lying on the ground of some battlefield. It was a scene right out of World War I. I was wearing a soldier’s uniform and helmet. I was crawling towards a trench lined with barbed wire; the trench was on a little higher ground than where I was. I ran into the trench and had to kill a German soldier. I took a grenade and stuck it into the German soldier’s belly and let it explode while the grenade was still in my hand: the German soldier died, but nothing happened to me. Then I was gripped with a very deep anguish because I had been killing people during the battle. I lifted my head up towards the sky and cried out, “Papa! Papa!” I began to pray in tongues and then the dream ended.

A Prophetess from Minnesota   4 comments

The Prophetess Deborah

Dreams from the LORD 2003-2006
18 December 2004

Somewhere in December of 1991 some friends of mine invited me to some Pentecostal church in Marshalltown, Iowa. That Sunday a prophetess from Minnesota gave the sermon. She was originally from Greece. After the sermon, she walked through the people gathered in the church and prophesied over every one of them. When she came to me she said, “You have a message to give.” I didn’t think about it much at the time: if it (the prophecy) was from the Lord, fine; if it wasn’t from the Lord, fine.

It wasn’t until 1998 that the Lord told me that her prophecy came to pass in 1997 when my two poems “A Prophet’s Eyes” and “Shiloh” were published in Ethos magazine. I believe “Shiloh” disturbed a lot of people. “Shiloh” was absolutely inspired by (dictated to me by) the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit would wake me up in the middle of the night and I would have to write down several more verses—that happened for three nights. The great miracle about the whole thing is that the Lord told me to submit these two poems to Ethos, which is a secular magazine, and they were published. Ethos is published by the Journalism Department at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.

Shiloh
By Tim Shey

Brutal deathdance;
My eyes weep blood.
Pharisees smile like vipers,
They laugh and mock their venom:
Blind snakes leading
The deaf and dumb multitude.

Where are my friends?
The landscape is dry and desolate.
They have stretched my shredded body
On this humiliating tree.

The hands that healed
And the feet that brought good news
They have pierced
With their fierce hatred.

The man-made whip
That opened up my back
Preaches from a proper pulpit.
They sit in comfort:
That vacant-eyed congregation.
The respected, demon-possessed reverend
Forks his tongue
Scratching itchy ears
While Cain bludgeons
Abel into silence.

My flesh in tattered pieces
Clots red and cold and sticks
To the rough-hewn timber
That props up my limp, vertical carcase
Between heaven and earth.
My life drips and puddles
Below my feet,
As I gaze down dizzily
On merciless eyes and dagger teeth.

The chapter-and-versed wolves
Jeer and taunt me.
Their sheepwool clothing
Is stained black with the furious violence
Of their heart of stone.
They worship me in lip service,
But I confess,
I never knew them
(Though they are my creation).

My tongue tastes like ashes:
It sticks to the roof of my mouth.
I am so thirsty.
This famine is too much for me.
The bulls of Bashan have bled me white.
Papa, into your hands
I commend my Spirit.

Escape from a Death Camp   1 comment

Dreams from the LORD 2003-2006
6 November 2004

Last night I had a dream where I was in a place where these people were being killed—a death camp. I was standing in line with the rest of these people that were waiting to be killed. There were many tractor-trailers (with open trailers like a dump truck) filled with dead bodies and they were going to some place in the country. I escaped the camp and had to crawl and walk on this tractor-trailer/dump truck with dead bodies wrapped in burlap bags; they were stacked neatly in rows—like sardines. There were some bodies that were still alive. I made my way through this empty, dingy town. These three men in a small car were chasing me. I helped this woman and her daughter escape. It was a long dream; I don’t remember all the details.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose   4 comments

[13 July 2010]

Last night I watched this movie at my friends’ house: The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005). I believe the Lord wanted me to see this movie. When it came to describing and showing demon possession, The Exorcism of Emily Rose was right on target.

I have never been demon-possessed, but I have been demon-oppressed. I believe the Greek word is demonozanai (spelling incorrect?) which means a part of the personality is demonized (this is not the same thing as demon possession).

I was first attacked by a demon in my sleep (the devil loves to attack people at night when they are at their weakest while they are sleeping) when I was in the third grade. I woke up and found myself paralyzed–it was very hard to breathe. Then I saw these two beedy, evil eyes looking at me. I don’t know how long I was paralyzed, but finally the evil presence left my bedroom and I was able to get out of bed. It really scared the hell out of me. I then left my bedroom and walked to the bathroom and turned on the light. I believe it was around 4 A.M.

The next time I was attacked by a demon was when I dropped out of high school in May of 1977—I was a junior; I was seventeen. I was sleeping in my pickup near these railroad tracks in Ames, Iowa and this evil presence paralyzed my body. When you are paralyzed, you usually start choking because it is very hard to breathe.

At the age of seventeen, I was an atheist, so I didn’t know how to pray against these demonic attacks. At the age of eighteen, I began to pray to God again. At the age of twenty-two, I asked Christ into my life—which definitely changed my life for the better.

Between the age of seventeen and twenty-two, I was attacked by demons a number of times in my sleep. After I became a Christian, the attacks continued till the age of twenty-six. At the age of twenty-six, something very significant in my spiritual education happened: all day long there was this evil presence oppressing me–it felt like a thick, heavy blanket of darkness wrapped around my head. I got so frustrated and angry I cried out, “In the Name of Jesus Christ, begone Satan!” And the evil presence left me. It was such a relief.

A few years later, I discovered that the Blood of Jesus is more powerful than the Name of Jesus. Whenever I felt a demonic attack, I would say, “Blood of Jesus” or “I plead the Blood of Jesus” and the demon would leave quicker than if I had said “In the Name of Jesus.” As we all know, it is the Blood of Jesus that cleanses us from sin. Satan hates and fears the Blood of Jesus.

As I have gotten stronger and deeper in Christ, the attacks have decreased over the years. I still get attacked once in a while because I am still obeying the Lord and disrupting certain aspects of Satan’s kingdom through my life of intercession.

The scene in the movie where Emily Rose was in bed and this demon crushes her into the mattress and paralyzes her—this is absolutely true. This happened to me once back in December of 2008 (somewhere around December 8th). I was hitchhiking in Idaho and found a camper at this industrial park to sleep in. I laid my sleeping bag on this mattress and went to sleep. Later that night, this powerful evil presence filled the camper and the weight of the demon crushed my body into the mattress. I could feel my body being pressed deeper into the mattress. I thought my legs and hips were going to be broken. Eventually the demon left the camper. This demon could have been a principality, a power or Satan himself.

A week later, I found out that my book High Plains Drifter: A Hitchhiking Journey Across America was published. It was published close to the day that my body was crushed by that demon. I knew then that Satan hated the fact that my book was published. The theme of High Plains Drifter is obedience to the Lord—this is how we defeat Satan in our daily lives. Obedience, obedience, obedience. “Obedience is better than sacrifice.”

It is also interesting that in late September of 2008, I was sleeping in my tent somewhere south of Lolo, Montana and it felt like a deer had jumped onto my tent and landed on my ribcage. It was very painful. I thought for sure that my ribs were broken. I woke up the next morning and felt my ribcage, but no bones were broken. Two days later, I was in Dillon, Montana and I was checking my email at the library and PublishAmerica had just notified me that they wanted to publish High Plains Drifter. Again, Satan hates High Plains Drifter and hates my life of intercession.

In the movie The Exorcism of Emily Rose, the priest would say the Rosary when confronting the demons in Emily Rose. This is absolutely useless. All you need to do, is to use the Name of Jesus and say, “In the Name of Jesus, come out of her, Satan!” Also you need to be a mature Christian—this is not for novices. The Rosary is not Christian—it is Catholic. “There is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” Mary is not a mediator. The Catholic Church describes Mary as “co-mediatrix”, but this is not Christian.

People need to read and meditate on the Book of Hebrews in the New Testament:  the Lord Jesus Christ is far superior to angels, and the blood of bulls and goats. Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God, not the Lamb of Man. Our Heavenly Father sacrificed Jesus at Calvary for the sin of the world. Faith in the Finished Work of the Cross has absolute authority over Satan. And if you are Baptized in the Holy Ghost you have added power over Satan. Jesus came to set the captives free.

Escaping the Gestapo   3 comments

Dreams from the LORD 2007-2010
5 June 2010

Last night I had a dream where I was being chased by police or some sort of Gestapo. They were rounding up all of these people and putting them in vans. When I walked up to this van, there were people sitting inside the van—packed like sardines—with handcuffs and some sort of ring that went around the back of their heads and connected to both ears. They looked like zombies. When I saw this I ran away from the vans. All of these policemen/Gestapo were chasing me, but I was never caught.

Psalm 91: 1-3: “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.”

Psalm 91: 9-10: “Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.”

Psalm 91: 14-16: “Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.”

Baal-perazim   Leave a comment

king david

II Samuel 5: 17-25: “But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold. The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. And David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand. And David came to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim. And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them. And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees. And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines. And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.”

“But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold.”

When Satan learns of someone who is devoted to Christ, he will attack that Christian: either spiritually (a demon may attack you in your sleep), intellectually (an unbeliever or a false Christian may argue with you about your Christian beliefs) or physically (Satan may bring sickness or death to you or your loved ones).

What was David’s reaction on hearing that the Philistines had invaded Israel? He immediately enquired of the Lord.

When we are attacked by the devil, we must not seek consolation or advice from flesh and blood. We must go to the Lord and ask Him what we must do. You can pray with words or enter into the Presence of God (when the Lord glorifies your body, this can defeat a tactic or strategy of the devil; “the anointing breaks the yoke of sin.”) or pray in tongues. When trouble comes: seek God, not man.

After David sought the Lord, David went out and defeated the Philistines in battle. If you abide in Christ, the Lord will give you the strength and wisdom to defeat the devil. “No weapon formed against thee shall prosper.”

“For then shall the Lord go out before thee.”

Whenever we are attacked by the devil, we should think of it as an opportunity for the Lord to humiliate and defeat the devil in our life. It is an opportunity for the Lord to be glorified in our bodies. Whatever won’t kill us, will only make us stronger. We need to let the Lord use our lives so that the Spirit of God can flow through us and defeat some aspect of Satan’s kingdom.

As a living sacrifice, we need to do what the Lord wants us to do and NOT what we want to do. Self-will kills the power of the Holy Ghost in our lives. Self-will does not glorify God.

Overcome With Great Sorrow   33 comments

Last night I had a dream where I was at a church meeting.  The church meeting had only children present—it looked like the children were all under 12 years old.  There was this little boy who was dying of cancer, so a number of us gathered around him to pray for him.  This little boy’s name was Yeshua.  I knew in my spirit that I had faith for this little boy to be healed, but I wondered if these children had faith enough for that little boy to be healed.  There was a close-up of the boy’s face in the dream.  Then it was time for me to leave the meeting.

I grabbed my backpack and started walking away, but this little kid walked up to me and gave me my folder that holds some of my papers, my notebook and an atlas of the United States.  I guess I had forgotten to take the folder with me.

As I walked down the street, I stopped at this house to talk with this well-known actor (he was on the sitcom Friends).  We talked about my Christian faith for a while.  At times, it seemed like he was interested in what I was saying and, at other times, he was mocking me.

When I walked away from that actor’s house, I was overcome with great sorrow for the little boy that was dying of cancer.  The sorrow was very profound, very deep; it overwhelmed my whole being.  I have never experienced sorrow like that before.  I wanted to weep, but no tears came out of my eyes.  Then I woke up.

The little boy in the dream, named Yeshua, represents the American Christian Church (or churchianity) of today:  immature, shallow, made for children.  The American Christian Church is dying of cancer:  it is losing its life, its salt, its ability to preserve the United States.

When the little kid walked up to me and gave me my folder that had my papers and notebook:  this means that my writings are important for reaching out to the Body of Christ—I am feeding the sheep through my two blogs and my two books.  This is significant because every once in a while I will ask the Lord if I can stop writing in my blogs; sometimes I think it doesn’t seem to do much good—especially when we have idiots in the United States who follow people like John Piper, Rick Warren and Joel Osteen.  (The Lord told me to start my two blogs and He also told me to write my two books.)

At the end of the dream, when I was overcome with sorrow:  I wanted to weep, but no tears came out of my eyes.  The United States is in a severe drought this summer because of sin (abortion, homosexuality, earth worship, etc).  It is so dry from sin, I don’t have enough water in my eyes to weep for this country.  Maybe the Lord is telling me not to waste my tears over the wicked that have ruined this country.

David bringing the Ark into Jerusalem

II Samuel 6: 16: “And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.”

II Samuel 6: 20-23: “Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel today, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself! And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD. And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour. Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.”

The problem with Michal is that she was conformed to the world. “The love of the world is enmity with the Father.” David was anointed with the Holy Ghost–he was sensitive to the leadings of the Holy Ghost. “Those who are led by the Spirit shall be called sons.”

Because Michal loved the world, she was spiritually dead. Because she was spiritually dead, she despised David who was a man of God. And because she despised David, she was spiritually and physically barren (she was not able to bear any children).

So many “Christians” belong to the Church of Michal–or the Church of King Saul. So few Christians belong to the Church of David (David was a man after God’s own heart).

If you are truly submitted to Christ, you will be rejected and despised by worldly Christians.

Genesis 3: 14-15: “And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”

Created and Uncreated Light   Leave a comment

Jesus

[26 June 2010]

Last night at around 11:00 o’clock the wind was blowing very hard, so I walked to the window in the bathroom and looked out. I saw a rainbow. This is the first time I have ever seen a rainbow at night. The color of the rainbow was white or silver. There was a full moon shining in the eastern sky; the western sky was overcast; there was a light rain.

The rainbow was a product of a light rain and the reflected light from the moon. True light (sunlight) versus reflected light. The many colors of a day rainbow versus the silver color of a night rainbow. I believe I was supposed to see that night rainbow for a reason.

Sunlight and moonlight. True light and reflected light.

Created light and uncreated light. The sun is created light. The Son of God is uncreated light (the Creator). Maybe the Lord is showing me that too many people in the United States worship created and reflected light (tree huggers). They should be worshiping uncreated light–the Lord Jesus Christ. And, of course, worshiping reflected light (the moon) is worse than worshiping created light (the sun). The pagan, reprobate mind is everywhere to be seen in this country.

Romans 1: 25: “Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.”

Romans 1: 28: “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.”

We have people in this country who are more concerned about pelicans getting oil on their feathers than the eleven men who died in the BP oil rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico. There is a TV program on The Discovery Channel that shows some enviro-idiots trying to prevent a whaling ship from harvesting whales–and look at all the money spent on this worthless operation.

Look at all the thousands of babies being aborted everyday in the United States. If you kill an eagle’s egg, you can spend one year in jail plus a $10,000.00 fine. If you murder a pre-born human baby, you will probably receive a Medal of Honor from the Abortion Rights (This Is My Body That Glorifies Sin)/Nazi Death Camps of America League of Pagan Voters.

This is a perverse generation.
