Deuteronomy 9:3: “But understand that today the LORD your God goes across ahead of you as a consuming fire; He will destroy them and subdue them before you. And you will drive them out and annihilate them swiftly, as the LORD has promised you.”

Psalm 97:3: “Fire goes before Him and consumes His foes on every side.”

John 2:15: “And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple.”

John 2:17: “And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.”

Hebrews 12:29: “For our God is a consuming fire.”

James 4:7: “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

I Peter 5:8-9: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:  Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”

There is definitely a time and a place for the HOLY FIRE of righteous indignation.

  2. I went to this church conference in Seattle many years ago. There was this pastor who spoke at that conference who lived during the Nazi occupation of Norway (1940-45). They were having a church meeting at someone’s house. Nazi soldiers came to their house and knocked on the door. One of the men at that church meeting opened the door and exclaimed, “In the Name of Jesus Christ, begone, Satan!” The Nazi soldiers clicked their heels, saluted and walked away. There is power in the Name of Jesus.
