Nehemiah 9:21: Forty years you sustained them in the wilderness, and they lacked nothing. Their clothes did not wear out and their feet did not swell.

God is the source of our provision and preservation. Provision generally is about what happened to us in the positive, while preservation is about what is not allowed to happen to us in the negative.

In the Garden of Eden Adam and Eve had provision and preservation; God said that of the fruits of the trees in the garden they may freely eat (Genesis 2:15-17). That means they were meant to be vegetarians, and till the time of Noah humanity were vegetarians. But after the flood, God added animal courses for man’s food. God told Noah that they can kill and eat animals (Genesis 9:1-3). It is thereby wrong to add any spiritual meaning to refusing to eat meat. Paul warned against such people in the last days who will be saying people should not eat certain foods, but we should receive every creature (animal and plant) with thanksgiving as given by God.

God made man secure. Security comes from having adequate provision and protection. But when man chose the path of disobedience in the Garden of Eden, he lost out of the provision and preservation of God. His body was meant to be preserved in eternal life (but he was judged with death), while he enjoyed the ambience of the Garden, fitted to meet all his needs and desires (but in judgement sin, Man was chased from the garden to fend for himself [Genesis 3]).

While on earth Jesus enjoyed the provision and protection of God in a deeper way than ever known to man. He said: my meat is to do the will of my father in heaven and to fulfil his work (John 4:34). When he was younger he said: he must go about his father’s business (Luke 2:49). That is the change that we have need: to live our lives realising that we meet our own needs when we meet God’s needs.

Jesus said that we should seek first to please God and walk in his ways, doing his will, performing his assignment and all our needs would be met (Matthew 6:33). We should bother about his kingdom; he would bother about our upkeep. It will cause us to experience righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit in our lives, filling us with divine satisfaction (Romans 14:17). If we would provide for God’s needs, God will provide for us and the bible says that God seeks worshippers who will worship him in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24); God seeks those who seek to be close to him. He has soft spots for them. He has a special affinity to them.

In the book of psalms we read that God looks down from the earth to see the one who seeks him, who meets his needs, in doing work on the earth (Psalm 14:2). When you are busy doing God’s work God will be busy doing your work; that is the way it is, that is the path to abundant life. Life is for everyone who comes to God abundant life is for those through whom God comes to others.

With God the children of Israel in the wilderness had the assurance of provision and protection. There is a guaranteed that living in the very presence of God brings. The bible says that it is the one who dwells in the secret place of the most high that will abide under the shadow of the almighty (Psalm 91), where there is guarantee of protection. Living in the presence of God for the children of Israel in the wilderness is the guarantee of provision. With trust in their heart they come out daily to pick up the manna that God sends from heaven.

But Jesus reminded us that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:1-4), which reflects the fact that man exists in three forms and the spirit, soul and body dimensions of men have different needs for provision and protection (1Thessalonians 5:23).

When Jesus was on earth, being the son of God, he had the protection and provision of God and he taught the people that they should expect their father in heaven to give them protection and provision (Matthew 6:6-13, 25-34). In the lines of prayer he taught, he said that we should pray to God: give us this day our daily bread and deliver us from evil, with the certainty that the power of our heavenly father will deliver provision and protection to us.

Provision

The body needs food. But meeting the needs of the body should not be our sole drive. Paul puts it this way: food for the belly and the belly for food, and both will be destroyed (1Corinthians 6:13). The food we give to our body has no eternal consequences. The bible says that the ones who eat, eats to the Lord while the person who declines food does so to the Lord (Romans 14:6-8), because whether we live or die we are the Lord’s.

But there is the food of the soul. That is the word of God (1Peter 2:2), while the food of the spirit is doing the will of God. Paul said that he serves God with his spirit in the gospel of his son Jesus (). And Jesus said that his food is to do the will of his father (Romans 1:9). The food of the spirit is action in the direction of the will of God. That means the more we do the will of God that expresses of the divine codes that God has put in our spirit, that means we release the divine life of God on the earth, bringing divine influence on the earth.

So the opportunity to express your spiritual gift is the opportunity to feed your spirit. It seems contradictory but the truth is that the more the spirit gives the more it “has” to give. Jesus said it this way: the one who have the more will be given to him (Matthew 13:1-13, 25:14-29); he that is faithful in the small things will be faithful in the big things (Luke 16:10); and he that does not have, the little that he has will be taken from him (and that discussion was about service).

Protection

The body needs to be protected. Paul said having food and raiment, we should then be content. Raiment serves as the protection of the body from the element (1Timothy 6:8).

The soul/heart needs protection.  The bible says we should guard our heart with all diligence (Proverbs 4:23). That means we should be careful the kind of influence we subject it to, watch our information gathering system: eyes (e.g. pornography), ears (e.g. mis-information), touch (e.g. sexual touches from wrong people), and mouth (e.g. illicit drugs).

The spirit is also protected when we don’t partake in demonic worship and things that has to do with fellowship with evil spirit (2Corinthians 6:13-18, 1Corinthians 10:19-22), or else we open ourselves to wrongs sprit to usurp the place of our new spirit from God in influences us.

We also protect our sprit when we operate by love. If we operate in bitterness and un-forgiveness, we sell ourselves to tormenting spirit (Matthew 18:21-35); and bitterness, according to the book of Hebrews, has a defiling influence (Hebrews 12:14-15).

2Chronicles 30:8: Do not now be stiff-necked as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to the LORD and come to his sanctuary, which he has consecrated forever, and serve the LORD your God, that his fierce anger may turn away from you.

Fellowship is a means of yielding to God, breaking from our normal pursuits to pursue God as he should be pursued.

God looks to and fro on the earth to see the one who seeks for him, and he responds to them with his grace (2Chronicles 6:19). The call in the focus verse is to break away from the wrong role models, those who don’t see the point in you being addicted to God. They’ll want you to be addicted to your job, to academics, to the pursuit of fame or money, but you should be unapologetically addicted to God.

They don’t see the point to taking God as extremely important. The man in psalm 11 complained about some people who wondered why he should put his trust in God, telling him: flee like a bird to your mountain (be panicky), but he was adamant in trusting in the Lord. People want to direct his eyes to the dangers (both imagined and real) around but he was adamant to focus on the Lord.

People have addiction to drugs because God actually made us with the ability to have addictions. But before the fall the only addiction that was possible for man was addiction to God. Paul said we should not form an addiction to alcohol or other natural products, but we should form an addiction to the Holy Spirit (spiritual wine), to the presence of God (Ephesians 5:17-18), we should not be chained to natural things (elements) but to the glory of God, addicted to it, develop a strong sense of neediness for it.

Moses had addiction to the glory of God. Moses ask above all else for God to show him his glory (Exodus 33:18). He wanted more of God, he could not have enough. Elisha had an addiction to the anointing, he realised that there was nothing that satisfies like that. He asked for the double portion of the spirit (anointing) of Elijah (2Kings 2:1-15).

The bible says we should be addicted to the righteousness, Paul said we should not be slaves to sin but slaves to righteousness (Romans 6:13). (Note that you are a slave to what you are addicted to.)

That is the mark of the new creatures in Christ Jesus, who are given the restored capability to be addicted to God, to walk by the Spirit (Galatians 5:16) and not by sight (2Corinthians 5:7), not following after inordinate lusts, but following after God.

Timothy was warned that to not follow youthful lust (the excesses of the young, still trying to find his identity), but to be as addicted to righteousness, faith and peace (2Timothy 2:22), be addicted to God as a matter of choice, because in a way, we choose our addictions, then our addictions choose us.

Paul was addicted to the service of God (1Corinthians 9:16). He said he can’t imagine not being in God’s service. He said: woe is me if I preach not the gospel.

You are addicted to what you can’t do without. So the Lord is your recommended addiction, you need to hooked on him. You need the Lord like you need the blood flowing in your vein, like the heart beating in your chest, like the air that you breathe, like the light to help you see your way. He completes you (Colossians 2:10).

There is no other way to relate to God except to recognise that he is both Father and Lord, and as Lord he demands submission. That is why when you come to Jesus, we are required to not only believe in your heart the work of he has done for you on cross in his sacrifice, but to also confess him as Lord, in a commitment to obeying him, yielding to him (Romans 10:9-10).

There is nothing that you should not yield to God.  You should yield your life, your wife, your work, your health, your finances, your children, your time to God etc. He is Lord of all, but he wants to work in your life in cooperation with you when you allow him to be Lord.

Amos asked: can two walk together except they be agreed? You must allow God to be who can be in your life; agree with him on all points as your Lord (Amos 3:3).

When you think everything is getting out of control, and you don’t know what to do, you don’t know what to say when you are questioned (Matthew 10:17-20), and you are ready to give up on yourself, that is good enough but you should complete the equation be giving that situation to God, tying it to him.

When worry seems to choke you up do what Peter said, cast your cares upon him for he cares for you (1Peter 5:7). Whatever is your cause for concern, they are non-issues when you put them in the hands of God; they are cheap for him to deal with. David said that God is the one he will trust because he would deliver him from his enemies.

What about yielding your fears to God; just like with worry, the devil will like nothing more than to choke you with fear, paralysing your initiative, causing you to see the negatives and not the positives in different situations (filled with negative expectations), painting himself in your mind’s eyes as larger-than-he-truly-is, but he is merely a defeated foe. And we are more than conquerors (Romans 8:37).

We should yield ourselves for God to use, for Him to shape the way he wants, to make use of us the way he wants. When God called Jeremiah, he complained that he was a youth, but God told him all he needed was to yield and he will use him for amazing things (Jeremiah 1:1-9).

We should be like clay in the hand of God, see him as potter (Jeremiah 18:1-6). We should be that yielded to him, trusting in his judgement about the direction of our lives, about who we should marry, about what our lives’ pursuit should be.

When we are yielded to God we become a tool in his hands, we become a channel through which he reaches out to others, through which he manifests himself on the earth, shifting the spiritual atmospheres to cause his kingdom to come where we are.

We should yield our words to him. The psalmist prayed: let the word of my mouth and the meditation of my heart is acceptable to you oh God (Psalm 19:14). Paul said that our words should be seasoned with salt so as to minister grace to the hearers (Ephesians 4:29). Yielding our lives to God can start at any age, and there is no limit in the length of time and the season of our lives.

2Chronicles 5:14: so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God

Solomon has finished the building of the temple of God, and as a mark of His approval, God manifested tangibly in the temple by his glory, as the living God, all others are imposters, like spit in the rain. There is no other God apart from him. He is a God who manifest by signs and wonders. Isaiah wrote that he and the children that he has been given are for signs and wonders (Isaiah 8:18), they have been made so by God, because God is supernatural and he does supernatural things.

In the land of Egypt his signs and wonders as he manifested his power broke the hardness of the heart of Pharaoh. Before sending him to go to confront Pharisees to let his people go, he equipped him with three signs and wonders to show the people that God meant business (Exodus 4:1-12), and would be true to his word to cause he children of Israel to come out free from Egypt, no matter strength of Pharaoh or the weakness of the children of Israel.

When God does signs and wonders, it is a confirmation of his word, of his truth. As the disciples preached the word, there were signs and wonders following (Mark 16:20).  Sings and wonder are part of the normal Christian life because Jesus said greater works than what he did we would do (John 14:12). Not only that, he gave the list of the signs and wonders that should mark the lives of every believer even if they are just a day old as Christians.

He said: they will speak in new tongues, they will cast of devils and if they lay hands on the sick they will recover and if they touch any deadly thing it will not hurt them (Mark 16:15-18). They will walk in the signs of supernatural protection, of supernatural speech, of supernatural healing.

The bible says God will give grace and glory, no good thing will he withhold from those who diligently seek him (Psalm 84:11). The manifestation of signs and wonders are linked to the seeking heart. As Jesus said that we should not cast our pearls before swine (Matthew 7:6), he also will not express his signs and wonders on those who do not value it, if you have no desire for it, then you might as well bid it goodbye. Paul said we should desire spiritual gifts, i.e. supernatural manifestation of God through us (1Corinthians 14:1). Desire is key.

That the glory of God is manifested in signs and wonder is seen by the testimony of scriptures. When Jesus did the first sign in Cana of Galilee when he turned water into wine, John commented about it, saying: this beginning of miracles, Jesus did and manifested his glory to his disciples and they believed in him.

Jesus said without signs and wonders we would not believe (John 4:48). When Philip invaded Samaria with signs and wonders he commanded the obedience of the people to the truth of the gospel (Acts 8). Numerous lame people were raised up, and many believed. At the beautiful gate of the temple, when a man lame from birth was raised and he leaped, Peter through that got the attention of thousands, and many believed in Jesus through his message (Acts 3:1-4:4).

Peter healed another lame man and whole towns believed in Jesus (Acts 9:33-35). We don’t have enough display of the miraculous in the church, and now when God has decided to roll up his sleeves and multiply his works on the earth, signs and wonders will be happening as frequently as breathing in and out (Isaiah 59:16, 63:3-5). By this the whole earth will be covered by the knowledge of the glory of God as the water covers the sea (Habakkuk 2:14).

Glory is a quality of God and the closer you are to him, the more of the glory we would manifest. What is more: when we receive Jesus; we have the glory of God in us. He is the expression image of the father (Hebrews 1:1-3), he expressed the brightness of his glory, and we have him in us, but he only allows the glory to shine through us the closer we are to him.

He said: without me you can do nothing (John 15:1-8). There is nothing to express without the glory of God. Paul said our life should be for the glory of God (Romans 14:6-8), and Peter said we should show forth the praises of him who has called us out of darkness into his marvellous light (1Peter 2:9).

When the glory of God manifests, the works of the flesh have to check out the door, just as the priests could not minster when the glory came to the temple in the focus verse.

There is a parallel to that from the words of Paul. He contrasted the work of the flesh with the fruits of the Spirit. He said that the flesh lusted against the spirit and the spirit against the flesh and the decisions of your life does not lie with you but with those two forces (Galatians 5:14-26).

The temple does not have a choice about what happens within, but there are forces of the flesh that needs to be rejected and there are fruits of the Spirit that needs to be expressed. We can be led by the flesh (to destruction) or by the Spirit (to life), who is also called the Spirit of glory since the Spirit of God is associated with the glory of God (1Peter 4:14).

Isaiah discovered that the glory of God was a fearsome thing (Isaiah 6:1-8), but that changed in Jesus. John said: we beheld his glory (and not scared) as that of the only begotten of the father, full of grace and truth (John 1:14, 17). Jesus made the glory of God accessible, touchable, for us to experience as individuals. Jesus said that he has given us the glory he has with the father, that same glory that scared Isaiah. What was the difference?

The incarnation made the difference. Jesus came in a form that we can relate to, condescending to take on the human form (Philippians 2:5-11). But after his death resurrection and ascension, he shone his brighter-than-the-sun glory, and changed the stony heart of Saul the Pharisee and turned him to Paul the apostle of Christ (Acts 9:1-22).

Isaiah in his own encounter with the glory was also changed by it. At the beginning he shouted that he was unworthy to stand in the presence of God, but the fire of the presence, the purifying glory in the form of a coal of fire on the altar was taken by an angle to his tongue, purging him of the works of the flesh as regards to his flesh. The glory of God is the divine change agent.

The glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord   Leave a comment

1Kings 8:11: so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD.

The cloud being described is the cloud of the glory of God. A clod carries the potential for rain. And what the cloud of the glory of God rain down are healing and prosperity. In the wilderness the children of Israel were constantly under the cloud of God’s glory, by day they were under the pillar of cloud and by night, under the pillar of fire, tangible manifestations of the presence of God (Exodus 13:21).

The result was felt in their body. They were able to make the journey through the wilderness without anyone among them in need of medical attention (Deuteronomy 29:1-6, Nehemiah 9:21, Psalm 105:37), God rained down manna for them which they ate for forty years. They were under God’s provision and physical preservation; even their cloths did not wear out all the years under the cloud of God’s glory.

When the glory comes in the tangible expression of God, it comes to change the order of things. In the focus verse an order got changed. Priests were unable to carry out their routine work in the temple. They were overwhelmed by the glory of God, because “flesh” can neither adequately serve God nor stand in his presence (Acts 17:24-25).

The prevalence of the glory of God in a special way in the church (also called the house of God) makes a major difference between the reality of the believers in the Old Testament and the new. In the old, the glory can only be viewed outside of man, while in the new the glory through Jesus is inside of us.

What we have in the focus verse was a foretaste of the New Testament where the glory of God resides in man (as the temple of God) and God will be doing his own work in us and through us. Paul said that he is an earthen vessel, but has in him the treasure of the glory of God (2Corinthians 4:6-7). We are the house of God and the glory of God is in us.

Jesus said that he has bestowed on us the glory that he has with the father at the beginning (John 17:22-23). The glory is the concentration of the presence and power of God in full essence. Moses asked God to show him his glory (Exodus 33:18-23), he wanted to experience his presence and power, but in the human condition such was impossible, that was why God said to him “no, you can’t see my full glory, it will kill you.”

It is said that no one can see God and live, but you ask: “what about those who say they are taken to heaven and see God. Are they all lairs?”

Not necessarily.

People can see God in his full glory (in this life) if that experience was not a bodily revelation, i.e. the experience is not physically (i.e. bodily) taken to heaven. But a revelation that involved their spirit being taken to the presence of God, you are see God, because your spirit has the perfection of God. But the body is still mortal.

Paul said that he had a revelation, in which he was taken to heaven, but he does not know whether it was in the body or out of it (2Corinthians 12:1-4), showing the two ways we can be taken to heaven. If he went to heaven and he could stand glory of God, then he went there in his spirit, otherwise he went there in his body and will need some form of protection from the full blaze of God’s glory there, as covered Moses with his hand.

But people can see Jesus either in body or out of body revelation experience, because after he became man, he had the eternal capacity to disguise his glory in the garb of human body, just like he did on earth. So don’t be quick to dismiss those who said they have seen Jesus in whatever form it is.

The cloud of glory brings the active presence of God to the people. Though we know that God is everywhere, his expression has been restricted since the sin of Adam in the Garden of Eden. But there is restoration in Jesus Christ.  Jesus said that where two or three of us are gathered together in his name, there he is in our midst, to manifest his glory (Matthew 18:20).

When Philip told Jesus: “show us the father,” he wanted to experience Him, but Jesus was disappointed, saying: “don’t you know that if you see me you have seen the father, I am in the father and the father is in me (John 14:6-11).”

The writer of the book of Hebrews says that Jesus is the full expression of the father (Hebrews 1:1-3); Paul said that Jesus is the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Colossians 2:9); there is no greater experience of God and his glory than the experience of Jesus.

He brought the way of God to us, communicating his truth and introducing us to his life. Christ in us is the hope of the glory of God, i.e. He brings to us all the possibilities of the glory of God (Colossians 1:27). When we take him (Christ) in, he releases the glory of God in doses in us, transforming us from inside out. That is what Paul described as moving from glory to glory (2Corinthians 3:17-18). That is the empowerment within, which is the “treasure earthen vessels (2Corinthians 4:6-7).”

We are vessels of his glory, which he communicates through our lives as we shine as light in this world (Matthew 5:13-16). Jesus said that we are the light of the world; a city set on a hill cannot be hid. He said that we should let our light so shine before men so that when they see our good work, works that show forth the glory of God, they will give glory to God, they will be drawn to Him.

The focus verse shows that the ideal situation is for the house of God to be filled with the glory of God. That also means that sometimes the house of God is filled with some other things other than the glory of God.

In the time of Jesus, he complained that the house of God which was supposed to be the house of prayer for all nations has been turned to the den of robbers (Luke 19:46).  It therefore seems that to get the house of God full of the glory of God, we need to take the route of prayer. This is because the house of God is to be both full of the glory of God and also be a house of prayer. Prayer is what we can do as humans and we can expect the glory of God to manifest as a result of that.

In the book of Acts, when the disciples were threatened by those who wanted them to stop preaching Jesus (Acts 4:1-33), they prayed, the power of the Holy Spirit shook the place where they were staying and they preached with more boldness in the name of Jesus, manifesting his glory. That means there is a relationship between prayer, the operation of the Holy Spirit and the manifestation of the power and presence of God, being the reality that the Holy Spirit brings, in the expression of the glory of God.

Jesus was not diplomatic when he made the whip and chased away those who do not have any business in the house of God. Jesus came with the mandate of heaven to clean the house of God; many are being called in the same way today, to restore the house of God to its glory.

Proverbs 18:10: The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.

How you see God is very important. He takes his time to introduce himself to those he deals with, because he does not want the issue of mistaken identity. That is why if the devil wants to fight you, his aim is to cause a misrepresentation of God in your heart.

With Eve, what happened was exactly that (Genesis 3:1-8). The devil started by asking her a question about what God said, but by the end of the day, he had convinced her that God is a liar, that God does not have their best in mind, that they would be better off, if they look out for themselves. You know where that got her!

In his relationship with Abraham, he takes the time to tell him who he is. There was a time he told him I am God almighty (Genesis 17:1-19). At that time he wanted Abraham to start seeing him as the one who does the impossible, like having a child with your wife who is 90 years of age when.

When revealing himself to Moses when he was about to send him on the errand of setting the children of Israel free from bondage, he said he was the I am that I am (Exodus 3:13-22), which describes his eternal commitment to his promises and in that particular case, the promise he gave to their fathers to hand over the land of the Canaanites to them.

From the focus verse, we see the value in knowing and understanding the name of God, the psalmist says the name is a strong tower and through the name, salvation, is released (we are safe) (Proverbs 18:10). The names of God reveal the benefit that we derive from him. Since we cannot see him, we are introduced to him through his name and we get the right concepts about him from there. Without knowing his name we cannot relate with him but would merely grope in the dark.

The manifestation of the second person of the trinity, God the Word, is as the Lord Jesus Christ. The “Lord” describes his government; “Jesus” describes his sacrifice while “Christ” describes the power in his anointing.

He has said that no one comes to the father except through him (John 14:6); no one is saved except through his name- Jesus Christ (Acts 4:8-12), which stands for his act of sacrifice to save us and his position and power. What God can do is revealed in his name.  The name of God makes him distinct and establishes him as having no equal.

The name of the Lord is full of blessings for his people. It is the anchor for faith. And in the book of John we see Jesus referring to himself in a series of “I am”s

I am the bread of life (John 6:35)

As the bread of life he is the source of life. He is the Lord of life, so when he died it was the ultimate contradiction, how can you kill the Lord of life? Answer:  “It is to realise another seeming impossibility: how can the spiritually dead (you and me) come alive?” Actually what John reported was that, “in him was life (John 1:4),” outside of him there is death and decay, there is rust. A focus on him is a focus of life.

Everything was made by him (John 1:1-5), and he sustained everything with the Word of his power (Hebrews 1:3), even the atheist who does not believe in him has his physical life so sustained. Without his life you are spiritually dead, no matter the garb of religion or non-religious that you put on.

I am the light of the world (John 8:12)

Apart from him everyone is in spiritual darkness (regardless of how efficient the utility sector of your country is). His mission on earth was as light (John 9:1-5), without the light you are bound to not find your way. To move about without light is to soon fall into the pit.

I am the door of the sheep (John 10:7)

He is the access to God. No one come to the father except through him. His name is the means for getting anything from God. While Peter and John were at the temple and they healed a man who was lame from birth, they announced that it was through the name of Jesus that he was healed (Acts 3:1-10). The name is the door of healing, of salvation, of deliverance, to freedom and anything that holds us bound.

I am the good shepherd (John 10:14)

As a shepherd he is our guide. Without him we don’t know our way to God, for pasture and we are exposed to all manner of marauding animals in the journey of life. As the good shepherd he laid his life down for the sheep revealing how much he values us, more than  his own life (John 10:1-30). As the good shepherd we are able to recognise his voice, as he trains us to hear his voice.

I am the Son of God (John 10:36)

As the Son of God, through him we are able to enter into that same level of closeness and relationship with God (John 1:12), we become members of the household of God (Ephesians 2:12-19), we are no longer aliens but partakers of the promises of God in Jesus Christ.

I am the resurrection and life (John 11:25)

As the resurrection and life we have the promise of our own resurrection. It may not look like that now but the miracle of transformation will still happen to the believers in Jesus and that means the grave is not the  end of the story, there is time called rapture where though not all believers will die but all will be changed, our death-limited body to spiritual body (1Corinthians 15:35-57). John said it this way, “though we don’t know how we would look like when he appears (in his second coming) but we know we will be as he is, like him with his resurrected body, with all its supernatural features (1John 3:2).”

I am the way (John 14:6)

It needs reiterating that Jesus is the way. Because in the midst of very “good” people that we live with, we may get the idea that maybe God cannot be that “wicked” to throw everyone to hell. Don’t be deceived, the reason we are supposed to take evangelism serious is because of the wrath of God that is coming on those who do not obey Jesus Christ (Romans 2:8, 1Peter 4:17, 2Thessalonians 1:6-12) (not their own version of him, but the bible version of him).

There is no two ways about it, it’s either the Way, or no way, it’s either the Way or the pit.  It doesn’t have anything to do with human sentiment at all; Jesus did not die on the cross for you to get away with ignoring his sacrifice and get all sentimental about issue (if God wanted to be sentimental, he would not have allowed his Son to die in the pain of the cross and be just watch). The writer to the Hebrews said that how can we escape if we neglect so great a salvation (Hebrews 2:1-3) how would we dodge the consequences? There is no other way and there is nothing you can do about that. You cannot get to God on your own terms; it has to be on his own terms.

I am the truth

It is written that the Law came through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ (John 1:14-17). Many are seeking for truth in all manner of places, but only through Jesus do we have the authentic truth from God. The alternatives are deception, no matter how it is coined, how it is presented, how appealing it is (remember that the devil made the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil appeal to Eve).

I am the life 

As the life we owe him everything. We are to live for him, since he is the life. It is written those who believe in him we have eternal life (John 3:16), before he made that provision, we were all by nature children of wrath, but through him we made the transition from death into life, we become changed in a fundamental way, we became new creatures (2Corinthians 5:17).

I am the true vine (John 15:1)

He is the vine, we are the branches. We derive our sustenance, our identity and our productivity from him, all within the context of our unity with him. We experience his flow in us, the flow of his thought (1Corinthians 2:16), the flow of his life, the flow of his divine energy.
