A Letter from Israel   5 comments

QTHj11013290

A few weeks ago, I hitchhiked from California to Wyoming.  I stayed with some friends in Wyoming for a few days.  They had some letters in a box that they were keeping for me.  I took these letters with me as I hitchhiked back west.

One of the letters was from Gideon Elazar from Tsfat*, Israel near the Sea of Galilee; Gideon gave me a ride while I was hitchhiking west out of Helena, Montana back in August 2004:

1.11.04

Dear Tim.

I wanted to let you know that I received the disc with the book you wrote [High Plains Drifter:  A Hitchhiking Journey Across America].  I read it all and enjoyed it very much.  It was a view of America that I had not seen before.  As I told you when we met, I too have done some hitchhiking in Israel and in Europe and I knew what it’s like to live on people’s kindness and on God’s grace.  I think many people have a perception of the U.S. as a place full of dangerous people and would be surprised to hear about all the really good people you met.

I hope you are well, but I’m not worried because I know you’re being taken care of.

Be well and God bless,

Gideon

As America Has Done to Israel – An Urgent Warning!   10 comments

Genesis_12_3

This is from The Trumpet Sound blog:

I struggled much to write this message down. I cried to the Lord in prayer to help me as the burden has mounted up in my heart that I feel like I am getting sick physically. The burden began with the dream I had of the Peace Treaty which I believe will be the final one before the soon return of the Messiah. Although the message in this article is connected with the ‘Peace Treaty’ dream, I will not discuss it here to give way to this urgent call as Obama’s Israel trip is merely two days away. I will publish it in a few days as the Lord leads.

Shortly before I woke up yesterday I had a dream or a vision or simply a conversation that was going on in my head. It was about John McTernan’s Insights and his book “As America Has Done to Israel.” I said, “Yes, I know John McTernan. I am reading his blog. I know his book “As America Has Done to Israel.” The conversation kept going until I awoke fully as this hit me like as if I wasn’t getting the message, “Hey, listen! As America has done to Israel… Obama is going to Israel… You know what he’s gonna do… something’s gonna happen!” I opened my eyes and said, “Oh, my God.”

John McTernan does a very good job of connecting America’s actions toward Israel with the nation’s catastrophes. What I heard is a confirmation that his insights are correct. His warnings are confirmed in this conversation with, I believe, an angel of God. If those earlier actions were met with hard blows, what more will it be like when the highest leader of America sets foot on Israel to deliver a message contrary to the will of God?

http://defendproclaimthefaith.org/blog/

The thought of Obama going to Israel and what he may say to the youth and how the Lord will deal with it this time keeps me sighing to this very moment. I knew I had to send the message and urge everyone to pray, but I felt like this is a helpless situation. I know that Obama will do what he intends to do. Lately I am seeing him a lot and feeling the hardness of his heart. It makes me cringe every time. When I woke up this morning with such a heavy spirit, I decided I must pour out this burden before Him. In prayer I asked the Father how I should pray. If the Lord won’t restrain Obama and people won’t listen, what can my prayers do? With these questions I got my Bible and this is what I immediately saw:

Psalm 81: 14(13)-15(14) CJB

14 (13) How I wish my people would listen to me,
that Isra’el would live by my ways!
15 (14) I would quickly subdue their enemies
and turn my hand against their foes.

This word of the Lord ripped me. This speaks not only of Israel but all of His people who if only will listen to Him. But what is He saying to His people that they are not paying attention to? See what He says just before that.

Psalm 81: 9(8)-13(12) CJB

(8) “‘Hear, my people, while I give you warning!
Isra’el, if you would only listen to me!
10 (9) There is not to be with you any foreign god;
you are not to worship an alien god.
11 (10) I am Adonai your God,
who brought you up from the land of Egypt.
Open your mouth, and I will fill it.’

12 (11) “But my people did not listen to my voice;
Isra’el would have none of me.
13 (12) So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts,
to live by their own plans.

It is a sobering message but as an intercessor I could not give up and settle with that answer from the Lord. So I persisted until He gave me a comforting answer. But listen, as much as I want to give a different message, here is what the Lord gave me further as I opened my Bible again.

Jeremiah 6:16-19 CJB

16 Here is what Adonai says:

“Stand at the crossroads and look;
ask about the ancient paths,
‘Which one is the good way?’
Take it, and you will find rest for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not take it.’
17 I appointed sentinels to direct them:
‘Listen for the sound of the shofar.’
But they said, ‘We will not listen.’
18 So hear, you nations; know, you assembly,
what there is against them.
19 Hear, oh earth! I am going
to bring disaster on this people;
it is the consequence
of their own way of thinking;
for they pay no attention to my words;
and as for my Torah, they reject it.
20 What do I care about incense from Sh’va
or sweet cane from a distant land?
Your burnt offerings are unacceptable,
your sacrifices don’t please me.”

As if that was not enough, verse 26 of Jeremiah 6 stood out before me and here is what it says which resounds to the depths of my heart:

26 Daughter of my people,
put on sackcloth, roll in ashes,
mourn as if for an only son,
wail most bitterly;
for suddenly the destroyer
will come upon us.

(All Scripture quotes are from the Bible Gateway: http://www.biblegateway.com/)

What do those words have to do with Obama and his trip to Israel, you may ask? Recall that I came to the Lord in prayer purposely to intercede with the feeling of helplessness  that my prayer won’t change the situation. The message was given to me as the reason I have such a feeling. It is America’s own refusal to turn away from idolatry, her unwillingness to listen to Him, her rejection of His Word that makes it impossible for the Lord to restrain Obama of his hell-inspired hellbent actions which call for the judgment of God. Obama is the man whom God has delivered over to the enemy to use against an obstinate nation. Instead of interceding that the Lord will restrain this man, He wants the people to turn to Him in sackcloth and ashes, wailing and weeping in shame and repentance of their own sins. That is how the Lord will keep Obama from doing what he is doing. That is how the Lord will save America from being destroyed. If only you will listen, America…

As to what Obama may say to the youth of Israel, the one who spoke to me said, “You know what he’s gonna do.”

Well, I have been thinking why he is so bent on speaking to the young college students and not to the officials of the land. He purposely avoids going to the Knesset. Why? What message will he convey to the idealist youth? Well, I believe his message to those college students is about “peace.”- peace with the Palestinians, peace with the neighbors in the Middle East and peace for the world when Israel gives in. And he will subtly influence the youth that they have such an important role to bring this advocacy to reality. He will cunningly influence them to think radically against the conservative stance of the leaders especially Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who, over and over declared that “Israel is a Jewish State and Jerusalem is its undivided capital.” Remember what the Lord said what happens when Obama speaks?

“When he speaks are not the people mesmerized? Don’t they fall under his spell?”

Here is how the “Intercessors for Israel” stated it in the Prayer Points on March 8:

“The news out of the White House about US President Obama’s March 20th visit to Israel is not good. Although one is never sure what is rumor and what is truth, the fact that he is still determined to come – even if a new Israeli government is not in place – is very troubling. Obama wants to ‘connect’ with the Israeli people – especially the young people. With his mesmerizing manner, and his anti-Biblical stance on most issues, this is an opportunity for the enemy of God to inflict much damage on this nation.”

Note: (If you have the burden to pray for Israel, you may go to the website of the ‘Intercessors for Israel’ for the weekly prayer points: http://www.ifi.org.il/prayer)

As to what may happen to America this time as Obama touches “Israel, the apple of His eye,”John McTernan has laid out the possibilities. The Lord confirmed his insights. As America has done to Israel…

Massive Snowstorm in Northeastern United States   11 comments

This is from John McTernan’s Insights:

Kerry to Israel—Massive Snow Storm to Mass

          Obadiah 1:15

For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done (Israel), it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.

As America Has Done to Israel

I could not help but link the just appointed Secretary of State John Kerry’s first statement which was to restart the peace plan with Israel with the monstrous storm now hitting New England. He plans traveling to Israel around February 15. The peace plan calls for the dividing the land of Israel and especially Jerusalem. This brings a curse on America for violating God’s prophetic word about Israel.

A few days later, a monstrous snow storm is bearing down on his state, Massachusetts and the rest of New England. Of course, the entire New England region is now behind the homosexual agenda and abortion. This is hitting shortly after Hurricane Sandy. It could be a record storm with hurricane force winds and major coastal flooding. This event is taking place between Kerry announcing his plan for Israel and actually going.

Disasters like this are continually now striking America as the nation is under the curse of the Holy God of Israel.

1978 Storm

This storm is being compared to the monster storm of 1978. I did some very interesting research about what the United States was doing with Israel during the 1978 storm!

1978 Blizzard Weaker Than New England Snow Storm This Weekend? 02/07/13 The event started on 02/06/1978 and was called the storm of the century.

Remarks on the Departure of President Sadat from the US 02/08/1978 Anwar al-Sadat of Egypt was meeting with President Carter to divide the land of Israel at the exact time of this massive blizzard.

Travel Nightmare in Store for New England02/07/13 This could be one of the greatest blizzards ever to hit Boston!

“Two storms will merge quickly enough to bring colder air, tremendous snow and damaging wind to New England, causing airline and rail delays and creating a nightmare for travelers. The storm will do more than end a recent snow drought in part of the New England. The list is long on storm characteristics and impacts. Some areas will be hit with an all-outblizzard and buried under a couple of feet of snow and massive drifts. The worst of the storm will hit the Boston area late Friday and Friday night and will wind down Saturday morning. However, lingering effects from blowing and drifting snow, blocked roads and other travel problems are likely to linger into much of the weekend.”

New secretary of State Kerry to visit Israel 02/02/13 The first item Secretary of State Kerry had on his agenda.

“Newly sworn-in US Secretary of State John Kerry plans to visit the Middle East as part of his first trip in his new role, including stops in Israel and Egypt. The trip could take place as soon as mid-February, CNN reported on Friday, citing a US official. Kerry suggested this week that time was running out for a two-state solution with Israel living alongside a sovereign Palestinian state. He said it would be “disastrous” if it did.Former senior US peace negotiators said they expected Obama to proceed cautiously and to let Kerry take soundings for any fresh effort. That could allow Obama to avoid investing too much personal capital in a fresh effort until there was a prospect of real progress.“I believe that Kerry and Obama are committed and interested in doing something,” said Aaron David Miller, a vice president at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, who advised Democratic and Republican secretaries of state on Arab-Israeli peace negotiations from 1982 to 2003.”

Monster Snowstorm Bears Down On Tri-State Area; Blizzard Warning Issued 02/07/13 It is going to affect the entire North East.

“The strongest winds and heaviest snow will occur Friday evening into Saturday morning, the National Weather Service said. “We could very well end up using that term again — superstorm. This is sort of a winter version of a superstorm,” CBS 2′s Lonnie Quinn, with his jacket off and sleeves rolled up, said Thursday evening. Another big concern is flooding along the coast, especially for residents still cleaning up from Superstorm Sandy. A coastal flood watch will also be in effect Friday night through Saturday morning.”

Revelation 22:20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Jacob wrestling with the angel

Jacob wrestling with the angel

High Plains Drifter:  A Hitchhiking Journey Across America
By Tim Shey

Excerpt from Chapter Seven:

Sometime in July 1998, the Lord wanted me to take a bus to San Luis Obispo, California.  Of course, it seemed to make not a whole lot of sense, so I said, why not?  I took the bus from Ames [Iowa] and went through Denver then LA and ended up in San Luis Obispo.  I slept in a motel the first night.  The second night I slept on a hillside just outside the city.  I was in a Burger King and the presence of God came down on me heavily and I believe the Lord was telling me to go to Santa Fe.  So I got a bus ticket to Santa Fe.

I touched down in Santa Fe in the evening and walked to a motel room and I was not a happy camper.  I have wrestled with the Lord before and I was really wrestling with Him now.  I just couldn’t understand why I had to take a bus here and take a bus there, hitchhike here and hitchhike there.  Later, I calmed down and realized that God’s thoughts are higher than my thoughts and that I have shared my faith with lots of people on the road.  So I might as well shut up and put up.  I am here to take orders.  The Lord tells me to jump and I ask how high.

I started hitchhiking north out of Santa Fe on the road to Taos.  I got a few rides to Dixon and stopped by to see Mike and Pat Johnson who owned La Chirapada Winery.  I met them back in 1984.  Nobody was home, so I continued north.

This guy picked me up north of Dixon and drove me north of Taos.  When he dropped me off, he shook my hand and said that his name was Israel and that he was Jewish.  He drove off and I stood there semi-stunned:  that is the first time I have ever heard someone called Israel (except Jacob in the Old Testament, of course).

I walked up the highway for a mile and this older guy picked me up.  He drove to his house just north of Questa and I said I would keep on hitchhiking.  I stood there for an hour and then it started to rain cats and dogs.  The guy ran out of his house and told me to get inside because of the rain.  We sat down and watched some TV.  We watched some Spanish TV and then a Christian station.  He told me his wife and daughter were gone and that I could sleep on the couch if I wanted.  The church he attended was just up the road and I was free to come along.

We went to church the next morning—it was a small Pentecostal church.  The text that the preacher used was from Genesis 32: 28:  “And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel:  for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men and hast prevailed.”  My jaw just about hit the floor.  Is God’s timing perfect or what?  Israel.  Jacob.  Israel.  Lord, what are you trying to tell me?  Remember the guy yesterday whose name was Israel?  Later I looked up the name Israel in Harper’s Bible Dictionary and it said, “Israel:  May God strive, contend or rule.”

After the service, I got a ride into southern Colorado and, later, into southwest Kansas.  This Christian family picked me up outside Garden City and took me to Cimarron where they let me stay for supper.  The husband drove me to Dodge City and we had a little prayer before I got out.  I stayed in a motel that night.

The next day I walked out of Dodge five miles and this truck driver picked me up and drove me all the way to Hutchinson.  He was a Vietnam vet and had married and divorced twice.  He said something interesting:  he said that if Jesus ever came back, he would hitchhike all over the place just to take a look around before our Father let Him be the King of kings.  I thought that was pretty unique.  You never know who some of these hitchhikers were; they could be angels—or ex-sawmen.

And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.  And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.  And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.  And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.  And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”

Hosea 12: 3-5:  “He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God:  Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spake with us;  Even the LORD God of hosts; the LORD is his memorial.”]

Israel, Iraq and Egypt   Leave a comment

middle6

In 1948 the Lord re-established the nation of Israel. The fact that President Truman was the first head of state to recognize the state of Israel was the main reason, I believe, President Truman was re-elected in 1948. Arguably, Israel is the most important nation on the planet because Israel gave us the Law, the Prophets, the New Testament and the Messiah: the Lord Jesus Christ.

In the first decade of the 21st Century, the Lord raised up President George W. Bush to take out Saddam Hussein (a Satanic stronghold) in Iraq. The Lord has done—and will continue to do—a powerful work in Iraq. Iraq is the cornerstone of the Middle East.

The Iraq War was NOT about oil, but about freedom: freedom from Islamo-Fascist Slavery. In God’s economy, oil is secondary, freedom comes first. “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” But in the world’s economy, oil IS important. As long as we continue to drill for oil and gas and mine coal, we are showing the Lord that we are subduing the earth (Hebrew kabash [subdue]–Genesis 1: 28). We could call this The Oil-Gas-Coal Kabash. But this is a different issue and I don’t want to get on some other tangent here.

Now we come to Egypt. The Lord began the Arab Spring to get rid of Hosni Mubarak and prepare the way for democratic elections and government in Egypt. Egypt—like Iraq—at one time was one of the cradles of civilization after the Lord destroyed/judged the earth in Noah’s generation. Egypt is a great cornerstone in North Africa and maybe to the rest of Africa. As Egypt goes, so goes Africa(?).

We are now in the second decade of the 21st Century. If the first decade of the 21st Century was the decade of Iraqi beginnings, then the second decade of the 21st Century will be the decade of Egyptian beginnings.

Someone may ask, Isn’t Israel the cornerstone of the Middle East? No. Israel is the cornerstone for the Lord’s plan for the whole world. Israel is not a regional player, but a world player. Israel is an integral partner in the Israeli-British-American Military-Industrial Complex that the Lord is using to vanquish Islamo-Fascist Slavery in the world. Spiritual Judaeo-Christianity is growing stronger; Islamo-Fascist Slavery will ultimately wither on the vine.

In faith, I believe that, in the future, Israel, Iraq and Egypt will be a powerful trinity or alliance against radical Islam in the Middle East and North Africa. The Alpha and the Omega [AlephTav] is embedded in Israel-Iraq-Egypt Bereshith (the Hebrew word bereshith means “in the beginning” or “beginnings”).

Bereshith

[10 September 2011]

Yesterday, I got a ride with a young couple from Israel. He was from Hebron and she was from Bethlehem. They gave me a ride for ten miles and then dropped me off in Last Chance, Idaho, the next town north of Ashton. They said that they were Orthodox Jews and that they needed to stop travelling for the day and prepare supper before Shabbat (the Sabbath). It was late Friday afternoon and the Jewish Sabbath begins on Friday evening and lasts till Saturday evening.

He said something very interesting. He told me that a rabbi (probably in Israel) warned that Japan was going to suffer a nuclear catastrophe. The rabbi said this before the earthquake in Japan in March of this year. The day before the earthquake, the government of Japan signed some sort of deal with the Palestinians. When you oppose Israel, bad things happen to you. He who blesses Israel shall be blessed, he who curses Israel shall be cursed.

I know very little Hebrew, but I believe that that Israeli couple were speaking Hebrew with each other. When he dropped me off at the gas station in Last Chance, he asked me if I knew the Hebrew word bereshith. I was a bit surprised because I DID know what bereshith means. Bereshith means “in the beginning” or “beginnings”. What are the odds of an Orthodox Jew asking me what a Hebrew word means when it is one of the few Hebrew words that I know? A Providential ride.

He also said that he noticed while travelling in the United States that Americans for the most part are polite, but lack in hospitality. Whereas in Israel, the people are not very polite, but are very hospitable. He said that there are a higher percentage of hitchhikers in Israel than in the United States.

A Dream About Egypt   4 comments

Egypt

[19 October 2011]

Yesterday I hitchhiked from Riverton to Dubois, Wyoming. Usually it takes a half a day to hitchhike from Riverton to Dubois. After I got dropped off in Kinnear, I walked around three miles and I was curious as to why it was taking me so long to get a ride.

I walked a little further and I saw this little deer–it was hung up in a barb wire fence. It looked like it tried to leap over the fence, but instead got tangled between the top two strands of barb wire. I walked down into the ditch and set down my backpack. The fawn looked very frightened as I approached. I took one hind leg and then the next hind leg and freed it up from the barb wire.

There were a few lacerations where the barb wire had punctured the skin, but there was very little loss of blood. As I freed the fawn, it began bawling because it was scared and in pain. It fell to the ground and looked up at me. The fawn then hobbled back under the fence, through the ditch, across the highway (U.S. 26) and back into the other ditch. It hobbled a little further and then hid under some bushes.

I then said to myself that obviously the Lord had delayed me because He wanted me to help free that little deer from the barb wire fence. I was to see later on that this was partly true.

Eventually I got a ride to Crowheart where I got something to eat and drink at the gas station. I then walked a number of miles–from 3 PM till just after sundown. I began to ask the Lord why I wasn’t getting any rides. It was going to get cold (probably below freezing) and I was looking for a place to camp for the night.

Maybe a half hour after sundown, a van pulled over and picked me up. It was a woman named Brenda; she had picked me up before around six months ago. Brenda drove me to Dubois.

We both agreed that there was a lot of sin in the United States and that the Lord was going to bring more judgment on this country. She gave me some Scriptures:

Nahum 1: 3: “The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked.”

Habakkuk 1: 1-4: “The burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see. O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save! Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention. Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth.”

Brenda’s Dream About Egypt

Brenda took me to her place in Dubois and made me some supper. She then told me a dream she had over fifteen years ago. The dream was about Egypt.

In Brenda’s dream, she saw the River Nile and it was very turbulent. Then Joseph (the son of Jacob, Book of Genesis) came out of the River Nile dressed like an Egyptian. Joseph presented Brenda a little baby in his arms–it was wrapped in some sort of wrapping. Joseph then unwrapped the baby. The left side of the baby was crippled–the baby’s left arm and left leg were swinging around and around–it was very mechanical–it was not normal. The right side of the baby was normal. That was the dream.

I told Brenda that the baby was the new nation of Egypt that would be birthed from the turbulent Arab Spring. Joseph (in the dream) means that Israel or spiritual Israel (Judaeo-Christianity) will help birth the new nation of Egypt. Joseph was the savior of ancient Egypt and Joseph (Judaeo-Christianity) will be the savior of present-day Egypt. The left wing of Egypt would cause a lot of trouble, but the right wing of Egypt would be stable. (If anybody out there would like to give their thoughts on what this dream means, please leave a comment below)

_____

I told Brenda that the Lord delayed me so that she could pick me up, give me those Scriptures and tell me her dream about Egypt. After we watched this video about the modern discovery of Mount Sinai in Saudi Arabia, Brenda drove me to the Episcopal Church where I slept on the floor last night.

Brenda’s ride to Dubois was very Providential. More severe judgment from the Lord may be coming soon on the United States. So be it.

Betraying Israel Brings Destruction on the United States   1 comment

91e+0pXBqoS

[26 May 2011]

The reason why so many tornadoes are destroying different parts of the United States this spring (God’s judgment) is that certain American and Israeli politicians are trying to give land to the Palestinians. There is NO Palestinian State: there is ONLY Israel. Israel cannot go back to the 1967 borders–this is suicide. Palestinians need to submit to the Jewish authorities or get out of Dodge.

The reason why the Lord judged New Orleans in 2005 (Hurricane Katrina) was that Jewish settlements were being removed from the Gaza Strip. Before the Lord bombed the hell out of New Orleans, Haiti (2010), Japan (2011), Tuscaloosa, Alabama (2011) and Joplin, Missouri (2011), He NEVER consulted with the U.S. Military first.

God is not mocked. Your sin shall find you out.

He who blesses Israel shall be blessed, he who curses Israel shall be cursed.

The United States needs to aggressively support Israel and fight against Islamo-Fascism. The Koran is satanic; the “prophet” Mohammed was demon-possessed; Islam is slavery. The world needs Islam like it needs a hole in its head.

30 APR 2011 Today, I went for a walk through our fields and picked up some of the debris that fell across our farm from the recent tornados. Among the scattered pieces of tin, insulation, plywood, and other building materials were a collection of papers. There were family pictures, receipts, cancelled checks, and numerous Other items from places as far away as Huntsville, Flat Rock, Pisgah, and Cullman, Alabama as well as Trenton, GA. The most interesting piece I found was a torn thin paper that was delicate like a page from a Bible but the verses were not in order. The following verses are listed as they appeared in order front then back.

Ezekiel 14:6 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn [yourselves] from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations. Ezekiel 18:30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn [yourselves] from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. Ezekiel 33:9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. I Kings 2:20 So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David. Acts 13:36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption: II Samuel 23:2 The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word [was] in my tongue. Hebrews 6:17 Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath.

The verses seem to speak a message without any interpretation but I would like to add a bit of information that may make these verses come to life. The same day as the tornadoes ripped across the south, David Wilkerson, a prophet and pastor was tragically killed in a car accident in Texas. His son quoted the same passages referring to the death of David after his life of ministry. David Wilkerson also spoke many of these other passages referring to repentance from idolatry, sin and abominations. We need to read the scriptures and recognize what God calls sin, and an abomination. We need to return to His Torah and live a life of obedience.

The other thing that is amazing is that there seems to be a correlation between natural disasters and making political moves or alliances against Israel. We can see this recently as countries who have acknowledged a Palestinian nation against what God has said belongs to Israel. The day after Japan made this bold alliance the tsunami hit. It does not take long to see an immediate correlation when you look through the headlines. The evening of Tuesday and the morning of Wednesday our government met with the Palestinians to set up an interim government and even reprimanded Hamas saying that they needed to be less violent since we could not wholeheartedly back a terrorist organization.

While this article [article has been deleted] says that the US reacts coolly to the Palestinian plans it is none the less pushing forward with a plan to establish a Palestinian state. The more we push Israel into a corner the more the God of Israel will fight for them.

We need to take these cries for repentance seriously and truly search the Scriptures and learn what YAHWEH-God means when he defines sin or iniquity. His list might not be the same as what we have been taught. It is always good to review. The above is strictly my opinion and commentary and not the voice of God except the quoted passages from scripture.

Sincerely, Patrick S Tyree

In 1 Samuel 14, we find that God’s people had just won a battle against their enemy.  Saul’s army was so faint from fighting and lack of food that immediately after they won, they sinned against God by eating meat with the blood still in it.  Now, their leader expects them to carry on fighting, plundering, and pursing the enemy all night.

Then Saul said, “Let us go down after the Philistines by night and plunder them until the morning light; let us not leave a man of them.” And they said, “Do whatever seems good to you.” But the priest said, “Let us draw near to God here.” 37 And Saul inquired of God, “Shall I go down after the Philistines? Will you give them into the hand of Israel?” But he did not answer him that day. ~1 Samuel 14:36-37

Any fool could see that these men needed rest as much as they had needed food.  Yet this leader was blind to the needs of his own people.  There is but one concern in Saul’s heart – self.

As he seeks to pursue an already defeated enemy with an already defeated army, a conflict arises between this leader and his spiritual authority.  Saul wants to use his ready-to-flat-line subjects to collect his booty, but his priest urges him to wait and pray.

Note, where foolish, unspiritual leaders selfishly disregard the needs of God’s people, spiritual leaders will step up to challenge them.  Our weakness often leads to sin when and if we become severe and desperate enough in our infirmities.  When the health and safety of God’s people is at stake, God’s glory is also at stake.

So, for fear of men and to avoid looking bad, Saul prays to see whether he ought to carry out his plan or not.  But God did not answer.  Saul knows that sin is at the root of this silent treatment.  What he fails to recognize is that it’s his sin, not the sin of his people.

Of course, the lot falls to Jonathan,  his son, and Jonathan was indeed the one guilty of breaking Saul’s oath of fasting…but Jonathan was not even informed about the oath.  He was ignorant of his father’s foolish directive when he ate.  He was not rebellious or disobedient.  If charged with any crime, it might only be hunger.

Then Saul said to Jonathan, “Tell me what you have done.” And Jonathan told him, “I tasted a little honey with the tip of the staff that was in my hand. Here I am; I will die.” ~1 Samuel 14:43

Even still, Jonathan accepts his own guilt.  He does not justify himself.  He pleads neither his case nor his innocence.

Oh!  If Saul would have just been examining his heart!  If Saul had been doing what Jonathan did here all along, God’s people wouldn’t be in this mess.  If he had been examining his own heart for wickedness, he would have saved his kin from guilt.

Instead, Saul heartlessly and disaffectionately charges his very own son with the death penalty.  How willing he is to sacrifice anyone and anything to stay in charge and be in the right – even his very own son!  But, as Matthew Henry said, “Justice is debased when it is administered with wrath and bitterness.”

But Saul’s son was beloved among the people.  He was their hero; their savior; their deliverer.  He was a young man full of courage, honor, and integrity.  There was no way they were going to let him die for a nicety.

This is amazing.  These people were willing to starve.  They were willing to obey when corrected.  They were willing to fight all night if so instructed by their leader.  But there was one thing they were wholly unwilling to do.  There was one thing for which they stood up and said, “NO!”  That thing was selling out their friend – their rescuer who had so valiantly fought for them.

Jonathan was a type of Christ.  When conflict arises, we must never allow man’s religion to put to death our Savior.  Yet, “they did not rescue him by violence, but by reason and resolution.” ~Matthew Henry

Note, any time we see gross injustice among God’s people, we must not resort to violence, hostility, anger, or force in order to correct it.  Instead, we must pursue peace through reason, truth, prayer, and the scriptures.

Then Saul went up from pursuing the Philistines, and the Philistines went to their own place. ~1 Samuel 14:46

Finally, what we find as a result of all this in-house conflict is the enemy getting away.  The enemy escaped.  No heaping spoils of war after this victory.  Just a bunch of exhausted, post-traumatic stress suffering soldiers in desperate need of rest and recovery.

That’s what foolish, unspiritual leaders produce.  Be careful who you follow.
