The Titanic, the Church: A Comparison   5 comments

“The Sinking of the Titanic” by Willy Stower, 1912

This is from the blog My Dreams and Visions:

I had a dream where I saw the Titanic sailing upon the waters and ultimately hitting an iceberg. In the dream I knew that the Titanic was representative of the church, specifically the church in America. The captain of the Titanic is said to have ignored 6 or 7 warnings regarding icebergs. Remember that it was rumored to have been said of the Titanic that even God could not sink it. But the Titanic did sink by hitting an iceberg in the sea that God created. The captain did not slow down, change course, or stop despite repeated warnings.

The Titanic was to be the most luxurious cruise ship in the world offering every amenity to those who could afford it.

The Laodicean church is rich, increased with goods, having need of nothing. The captain of the Titanic represents the pastor. Those giving him the warnings of impending doom represent the prophets.

The prophets are the eyes which is why they are also called seers. One ignores their warnings at their own peril and also the peril of those under their care.

The waters of God’s judgment caused Noah’s Ark to float. The waters that flooded the Titanic after hitting the iceberg caused it to sink. The water in both cases represent sin’s judgment.

Pride and stubbornness caused the sinking. Pride in that the ship was thought to be unsinkable even by God and stubbornness that even though God in His mercy sent warning after warning of impending disaster, the warnings were ignored.

I am posting a dream from 4 years ago I believe to be related to the above dream.

I had a dream/vision 10/26/2014 . In this dream/vision I saw a bride walking down what looked to be a dirt path. What was strange is that she was blindfolded so obviously she could not see where she was going. I then saw various people with sight trying to take her by the hand to guide her. However, each time anyone tried to guide her, because in this dream/vision I sensed in my spirit that she was heading down the wrong path, she would lash out at them in anger with a knife.

It’s my belief that the bride in this dream/vision represents the church, the bride of Christ. The people sent to guide her back to the right path that had sight are the prophets. In the dream, even though blind, she refused help and lashed out at anyone who tried.
The scriptures that come to mind are:

Matthew 23:37-39 NKJV

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord !’ ”

I will conclude with a quote by A.W. Tozer:

“Let me go out on a limb a little bit and prophesy. I see the time coming when all the holy men whose eyes have been opened by the Holy Spirit will desert worldly Evangelicalism, one by one. The house will be left desolate and there will not be a man of God, a man in whom the Holy Spirit dwells, left among them.”

Eagles over England   Leave a comment

This is from the blog My Dreams and Visions:

I had a dream this morning where I saw eagles flying from the sea over the English countryside and finally perching on Big Ben. What is interesting is that there seemed to be a lead eagle, if you will, looking back to see that the others were following and secondly I saw all this from the vantage point of the eagles.

What of the Cross?   5 comments

30914-cross-5-facebook

This is from the blog My Dreams and Visions:

Isaiah 42:8:  “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.”

In my prayer time this morning the above verse was dropped into my heart. As I continued to pray in tongues I saw the following vision:

In the vision I could see a church service going on. I saw the platform that a preacher and worship team would stand on as well as the congregation.  What I saw next was a cross and the people on the stage strategically placing themselves in front of the cross so that those in the congregation would not see the cross, only them.

Next I saw those same people begin to adorn the cross with colorful scarfs and such to make it less offensive, i.e. tone down its true meaning. Then I saw them begin to dance around the cross celebrating what they had made it out to be.

I have posted this quote from A.W. Tozer before, but it bears posting again:

“From this new cross has sprung a new philosophy of the Christian life, and from that new philosophy has come a new evangelical technique–a new type of meeting and a new kind of preaching. This new evangelism employs the same language as the old, but its content is not the same and its emphasis not as before.

“The old cross would have no truck with the world. For Adam’s proud flesh it meant the end of the journey. It carried into effect the sentence imposed by the law of Sinai. The new cross is not opposed to the human race; rather, it is a friendly pal and, if understood aright, it is the source of oceans of good clean fun and innocent enjoyment. It lets Adam live without interference. His life motivation is unchanged; he still lives for his own pleasure, only now he takes delight in singing choruses and watching religious movies instead of singing bawdy songs and drinking hard liquor. The accent is still on enjoyment, though the fun is now on a higher plane morally if not intellectually.

“The new cross encourages a new and entirely different evangelistic approach. The evangelist does not demand abnegation of the old life before a new life can be received. He preaches not contrasts but similarities. He seeks to key into public interest by showing that Christianity makes no unpleasant demands; rather, it offers the same thing the world does, only on a higher level. Whatever the sin-mad world happens to be clamoring after at the moment is cleverly shown to be the very thing the gospel offers, only the religious product is better.

“The new cross does not slay the sinner, it redirects him. It gears him into a cleaner and jollier way of living and saves his self-respect. To the self-assertive it says, ‘Come and assert yourself for Christ.’ To the egotist it says, ‘Come and do your boasting in the Lord.’ To the thrill seeker it says, ‘Come and enjoy the thrill of Christian fellowship.’ The Christian message is slanted in the direction of the current vogue in order to make it acceptable to the public.

“The philosophy back of this kind of thing may be sincere but its sincerity does not save it from being false. It is false because it is blind. It misses completely the whole meaning of the cross.

“The old cross is a symbol of death. It stands for the abrupt, violent end of a human being. The man in Roman times who took up his cross and started down the road had already said good-by to his friends. He was not coming back. He was going out to have it ended. The cross made no compromise, modified nothing, spared nothing; it slew all of the man, completely and for good. It did not try to keep on good terms with its victim. It struck cruel and hard, and when it had finished its work, the man was no more.

“The race of Adam is under death sentence. There is no commutation and no escape. God cannot approve any of the fruits of sin, however innocent they may appear or beautiful to the eyes of men. God salvages the individual by liquidating him and then raising him again to newness of life.

“That evangelism which draws friendly parallels between the ways of God and the ways of men is false to the Bible and cruel to the souls of its hearers. The faith of Christ does not parallel the world, it intersects it. In coming to Christ we do not bring our old life up onto a higher plane; we leave it at the cross. The corn of wheat must fall into the ground and die.
We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum.

“God offers life, but not an improved old life. The life He offers is life out of death. It stands always on the far side of the cross. Whoever would possess it must pass under the rod. He must repudiate himself and concur in God’s just sentence against him.

“What does this mean to the individual, the condemned man who would find life in Christ Jesus? How can this theology be translated into life? Simply, he must repent and believe. He must forsake his sins and then go on to forsake himself. Let him cover nothing, defend nothing, excuse nothing. Let him not seek to make terms with God, but let him bow his head before the stroke of God’s stern displeasure and acknowledge himself worthy to die.
Having done this let him gaze with simple trust upon the risen Saviour, and from Him will come life and rebirth and cleansing and power. The cross that ended the earthly life of Jesus now puts an end to the sinner; and the power that raised Christ from the dead now raises him to a new life along with Christ.

“To any who may object to this or count it merely a narrow and private view of truth, let me say God has set His hallmark of approval upon this message from Paul’s day to the present. Whether stated in these exact words or not, this has been the content of all preaching that has brought life and power to the world through the centuries. The mystics, the reformers, the revivalists have put their emphasis here, and signs and wonders and mighty operations of the Holy Ghost gave witness to God’s approval.

“Dare we, the heirs of such a legacy of power, tamper with the truth? Dare we with our stubby pencils erase the lines of the blueprint or alter the pattern shown us in the Mount? May God forbid. Let us preach the old cross and we will know the old power.”

–A. W. Tozer, Man, the Dwelling Place of God, 1966

I am reminded of the words of the verse from the hymn I have decided to follow Jesus where it says, “the cross before me, the world behind me no turning back.”

Earthquake   2 comments

earthquake (1)

This is from the blog My Dreams and Visions:

I do not think I have ever posted anything like this before so here goes. Yesterday. 01/10/2015 I was laying in bed when I got what I will call a vision of a massive earthquake hitting Japan. I do not know the exact date but I sense that it could be soon.  This kept bugging me for 2 days so I am posting it and going out on a limb of faith that I am hearing the Lord on this one. If I get anything further, I will post it to this posting.

Faulty Foundations Cannot Support And Will Ultimately Crumble   3 comments

anglesey-gwredog-church-looking-down-the-nave-to-the-chancel

This is from My Dreams and Visions blog:

After all, no one can lay any other foundation than the one that is already laid, and that foundation is Jesus Christ.
(1Co 3:11)

I had a vision start 09/17/2014 and received clarification on it today. In the vision I saw a beautiful white church with a beautiful white steeple. This was odd. but I saw people standing around the church instead of in it like you would normally picture things to be. The people seemed to be admiring the building called church. Whether or not they had built it or not, I do not know. I just got the sense that they were admiring it. Then I saw the building called church begin to crumble beginning with the steeple. The building began to collapse in upon itself until it was destroyed. The word that I heard was faulty foundation.  The foundation of any church must be Jesus and Him alone.

A Sword   10 comments

This is from My Dreams and Visions blog:

I had a dream 9/06/2014 where I saw a sword. Then I heard the following, “a sword, a sword, a sword, a sword, a sword is destined for this country.” Upon waking I could see a huge sword over the United States and it made a shadow upon the land.  Then I saw what looked like a swarm of locusts descend from the sky. Whether they actually were or not, I don’t know it is how I am describing what I saw. They descended from the sky  at the northern border of the United States and Canada, at the southern border of the United States and Mexico, the Atlantic and Pacific Shores and then I saw the land being  razed. I saw state boundary lines disappear as these creatures from the sky destroyed the country. When it was over, America the beautiful had become America the ugly. I am not sure as of this posting what the locusts represent or how they fit into the picture of war. But from photos and movies that I have seen I know that they can devastate a land.  I noticed in the dream that none of the countries that bordered the United States were harmed. Only the United States. Once again, something to take to the Lord in prayer and to ask him for mercy.
